WORK HARD FOR YOUR WISHES!
I wish, I wish, I wish I wish…(insert your greatest desire here). When I was younger I was either very predictable, practical, or a combination of the two. I say this because usually when I wished for something as a child I got it. Side note: I only wished twice a year– for my birthday and Christmas and I always wanted the same things: anything Cabbage Patch Kids related, a bike, or roller skates. For about 7 years these were my only wishes. I did say I was predictable, right?
My wishes didn’t come to pass by osmosis though. Even as a kid when I was squeezing my eyes shut tight and making my wish, I knew I had to also drop hints to my parents, so they could make my wishes a reality. As an adult, my wishes are by far less material and much more developmental. This means that an external source can’t make it happen for me. I have to work for my wishes.
For example, my current wish is to be an entrepreneur with a thriving business. It is my networking, marketing, business planning, etc. that advances my entrepreneurial wish. It is my openness to selling myself and my services to strangers that drives me closer to increased revenue. It is my determination to keep going beyond every obstacle that will keep the doors open well beyond the first three years when most businesses fail. You get my point, yes? Wishing alone doesn’t cut it. You must add some work (usually a lot of work) to your wish to bring it to pass.
Understand this, wishing without working is wasted! As employees you get a paycheck for just showing up. As entrepreneurs it doesn’t work like that. We are an elite bunch, a chosen few. We will work for our pay. But the pay is priceless!
What are you wishing for in your business? Are you working harder than you’re wishing? Here is some final wish wisdom for you; I have found that the wishes that I wasn’t willing to work for were usually not what I really wanted, because the ones that were….those are the wishes that will wake me up at night with new ideas and ways to make my wish my reality. WISH BIG and BE WELL!
