3 Ways to Experience The Joy of Investing in YOU
One of the greatest forms of happiness is experiencing joy. Unspeakable joy is what most human beings want to experience. However, have you ever considered the joy you can experience by investing in you?
Lifehack reminds us that “Investing in yourself may be the most profitable investment you ever make. It yields not only future returns, but often a current pay-off as well. The surest way to achieve joy is to place a priority on investing in both personal and professional growth. The effort you put into consistently investing in yourself plays a large role in determining the quality of your life now and in the future.”
There are many ways you can invest in yourself. One way is to invest a percentage of of the money you earn; another way is to invest in your mind; and a third way is to invest in your spirit. Whatever you do, you can never go wrong investing in yourself. Let’s explore how investing in YOU can bring JOY and positively affect the life of your business.
Financially Investing in YOU
As long as I can remember, I have valued saving money. However, once I graduated from college, I learned about the importance of investing money. Marcia Brixley reminds us that, “One of the most important things you can do to create a healthy financial life is invest regularly and automatically. Simply investing $50 per month will help you create financial independence.” The key is to start now because time waits on no one.
Mentally Investing in YOU
Expanding your mind by investing in programs, classes, seminars, certification and coaching programs, and other professional development opportunities can leverage your professional life. Professional development is when you take continuing education classes in your profession. Sometimes you do it for your own goals and other times you do it, because it is mandated by your job or professional industry. In the school district where I teach, we are required to take 14 hours of professional development related to the content we teach. We can take a class, go to a seminar, or go to a conference.
Spiritually Investing in YOU
Personal development includes investing in your spirit. This happens when you read self-help, motivational and spiritual books, especially the Bible, if you believe. Another way to spiritually invest in yourself is through giving. Rick Warren explains GIVING is a form of spiritual investment when we sow seeds. The Bible states, “Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” (2 Corinthians 9:6, NIV). The ultimate giving is when you give without expecting anything in return and end up receiving gifts back one hundred-fold!
By investing in yourself in these three ways, you will experience joy because your will insure that you have money for your future, continue to learn and grow personally and professionally, and impact the world in a positive way by giving your time, talent, or monetary resources. Experience your JOY in 2016 by investing in you!
